Musically Inclined

I think Cami may be musically inclined. She loves to play on her toy piano when she visits Grandmommy and Poppi's house. She taps the keys and dances as the songs play (looking very much like a female Jerri Lee Lewis!) She has also figured out how to change the songs tempos from fast to slow, and quickly looks to her Grandmom for an approving dance when she has found a good one. Technically she has music in her genes. Her Great-grandfather Angelo (Dad's dad) was a natural musician, played by ear, and was in the string band, Ferko. And of course, Cami's daddy is also a natural musician, self-taught on the bass, piano and guitar. One of Cami's favorite times of the day is when Daddy comes home from work and plays the guitar for her. She claps her hands, dances, wiggles, and even tries to strum the strings. During the day when Daddy is at work, Cami will often crawl over to the guitar, look at it, strum the strings, and look sadly at her Mommy, whom she knows cannot play it at all.

Favorite Places

The more Cameron crawls and "cruises", the more fun places she finds to play (as you can see by the Cherios post). Lately if I open the refridgerator, no matter where she is or what she is doing, she comes a runnin'! Cami can play in the fridge for quite a long time--until we pull her out. I thought her daddy took some pretty artistic pictures of this.

Cherri-UH-OH!!

This is how my morning started.
My little rascal.....what can I say?
My favorite is the first pic. It's an "action shot" where you can see the Cherrios fly through the air.

She's Clapping Her Hands

It's hard to put into words the utter joy I feel when my daughter reaches a milestone--or does anything new for that matter! Monday night at dinner with the Grandmommy and Poppi, Cami clapped her hands for the first time. I thought my heart would explode with excitement and joy. I finally (and barely) caught it on video today. If I get this excited about hand-clapping imagine how I will be when she wins an Oscar, or the Nobel Peace Prize!!

Practically a Genius

Okay, so maybe genius is too strong of a word. It did take her over a minute to complete the task, and technically she did need two tries, and she was more interested in the camera than with giving me the cow--but still--she did it!!! Clearly see is going to be a rocket scientist.

This Is How Much She Loves Books

So I mentioned that Cami loves to read, but I don't really think you understand the extent of this. If you put a toy and a book in front of her, she will choose the book, hands down. Yesterday morning while Chris was watching her (God bless him I got a morning off), she crawled over to her toy box, pulled herself up, peeked in, grabbed the BOOKS and proceeded to read one--all on her own (so what if it was technically upside-down). A special thanks to Erin for getting us started on the Karen Katz flap books. These are Cami's favorites! She knows exactly how to pull each flap to reveal what's hidden underneath. We read them so much they were are already in need of tape to be repaired.

Cami Just Being Cami

Here she is--wandering around the living room, just looking for trouble!

What I Know About Her So Far

So the older my darling daughter gets, the more I get to see little glimpses into her personality. There are a few things about her of which I am certain:

1. She still wants nothing to do with apples in any way, shape or form.
2. Her favorite food is sweet potatoes with bananas being a close second.

3. She is a rascal--as the picture clearly shows.

4. She is really funny-- I think she will have quite a sense of humor-though she still finds Daddy and Grandmommy to be the funniest (she'll catch on that I am the funniest soon enough).

5. She is a mommy's girl.

6. I think she inherited my facial expressions. This will most definitely get her into trouble in years to come.

7. She can entertain herself. She also makes herself laugh.

8. She is an expert waver now.

9. She loves to sleep--just like her daddy. 12 hours a night with two 2 hour naps a day!!

10. Pink is still her color.

11. She loves to practice walking all around the house. I am sure she will be fully mobile in days to come.

12. She loves Saddie and Hershey. She lets them give her big, sloppy kisses and lights up whenever they enter the room.

13. She is LOUD! She enjoys screaming and squealing at the top of her lungs.

14. She is a daredevil. She enjoys climbing and does not fear falling or hurting herself. Which leads to the next one:

15. She is bullet-proof. She does not seem to feel pain too much. When she does hurt herself she is quick to shake it off.

16. She LOVES books. Any book around she wants to open it and flip the pages--even adult books. She will sit on my lap and let me read to her for hours.
As we get closer to 9 months I realize that eventhough I love getting to know her, she is already growing up way too fast.

She's "Talking"

It's taken me a while, but I finally captured it on film! Cami says "Mama" all day long. I don't think she knows it means me--but it's the cutest thing I have ever heard nonetheless. She can also now say "Baba". We are still waiting on her to say "Dada" which most babies say first. Did you have any doubt that she would be a total Mama's girl???

She's "Walking"

Eight months old, as of yesterday, and already Cami is on the move! Her new favorite thing to do is walk. She either holds on to the furniture or to Mommy's hands and walks all over the house. Her favorite thing is to walk to the tv remote, phone, or Mommy's book. I'm in big trouble when she can move without assistance! Pray for me.
