Funny Face

Although Cami is like Chris in every possible way, she did manage to inherit a few things from me--though of course, they are not my best traits. One thing that she got from me, which is sure to get her into trouble later in life, is her facial expressions. Yes--shocker-- my daughter is able to make very distinct, very dramatic facial expressions. My favorite one is her determined/ annoyed face. She makes this when she really wants something, or she has just had enough of Mommy and Daddy. I know when she is older I will not necessarily enjoy these overly descriptive faces, but as of now, like everything else she does, they are absolutely priceless.

Cami Took Her First Steps!!

It was a historic day here yesterday. After a check-up at the doc's: weight and height 50 percentile/ head 85 percentile (OMG!!), and two shots to the leg, my daughter came home in the best mood. I think it was due to the fact that Aunt Laura was visiting. As Laura and I were catching up, out of the corner of my eye I had noticed that as Cami was playing, she was kind of walking from toy to toy. So I got her to stand and encouraged her to walk towards me--and SHE DID IT!!! I got so excited and made such a big fuss (obviously) that Cami got really excited. She wanted to walk to me over and over again. Then Daddy came home and she was eager to show him (and the camera) her new trick. Laura and I were still in awe that she was actually walking, as you can tell by her gasp and my face. I can't believe how much my baby is growing up!

File This One Under: Oh GREAT!!

Well, my daredevil child has conquered the stairs. Yes, it seems she has NO fear whatsoever, and likes to climb our very steep staircase. She actually uses her arm strength to help pull her to each new step. I sware she may be a superhero. I have to go now and order another baby gate!

Tea for Three

"Make a tradition of mothers and grandmothers all dressing up and going to a fancy tea once a year." That is an excerpt from one of my favorite parenting manuals called, Mother to Daughter. It is a great piece of advice that my mom, Cami and I intend to uphold. My mom and i have been going to tea together for years. We even consider ourselves tea house connoisseurs--we definitely have our favorite places (and our not so favorite places) for tea. The Four Seasons Hotel in Philly is, by far, one of our favorite tea spots. So this year as a Mother's Day present the three of us got dressed up and had tea there. It was delightful and yummy. Cami seemed to enjoy herself and was well taken care of by the staff. One waiter even got her a purple princess wand, which she loved. This will definitely be a tradition for us to continue each year.

She's An Eater!

I was a little worried about finger foods these past weeks because Cami was just not swallowing them! She would successfully put food in her mouth, chew for a little, and then spit it out. I was convinced she would have no friends in Kindergarten because she would continue to spit out half-eaten food! However, tonight for dinner we tried a little pasta with meat sauce, and God bless her, THE GIRL IS AN EATER! She made quite a mess, but 90% did get swallowed!! I was so proud and excited. Then I realized that I had to clean it all up!

Musically Inclined

I think Cami may be musically inclined. She loves to play on her toy piano when she visits Grandmommy and Poppi's house. She taps the keys and dances as the songs play (looking very much like a female Jerri Lee Lewis!) She has also figured out how to change the songs tempos from fast to slow, and quickly looks to her Grandmom for an approving dance when she has found a good one. Technically she has music in her genes. Her Great-grandfather Angelo (Dad's dad) was a natural musician, played by ear, and was in the string band, Ferko. And of course, Cami's daddy is also a natural musician, self-taught on the bass, piano and guitar. One of Cami's favorite times of the day is when Daddy comes home from work and plays the guitar for her. She claps her hands, dances, wiggles, and even tries to strum the strings. During the day when Daddy is at work, Cami will often crawl over to the guitar, look at it, strum the strings, and look sadly at her Mommy, whom she knows cannot play it at all.

Favorite Places

The more Cameron crawls and "cruises", the more fun places she finds to play (as you can see by the Cherios post). Lately if I open the refridgerator, no matter where she is or what she is doing, she comes a runnin'! Cami can play in the fridge for quite a long time--until we pull her out. I thought her daddy took some pretty artistic pictures of this.

Cherri-UH-OH!!

This is how my morning started.
My little rascal.....what can I say?
My favorite is the first pic. It's an "action shot" where you can see the Cherrios fly through the air.

She's Clapping Her Hands

It's hard to put into words the utter joy I feel when my daughter reaches a milestone--or does anything new for that matter! Monday night at dinner with the Grandmommy and Poppi, Cami clapped her hands for the first time. I thought my heart would explode with excitement and joy. I finally (and barely) caught it on video today. If I get this excited about hand-clapping imagine how I will be when she wins an Oscar, or the Nobel Peace Prize!!

Practically a Genius

Okay, so maybe genius is too strong of a word. It did take her over a minute to complete the task, and technically she did need two tries, and she was more interested in the camera than with giving me the cow--but still--she did it!!! Clearly see is going to be a rocket scientist.
